Dallas/Local Training Rides
Note: All rides utilize versions of the Sunnyvale/Ray Hubbard loop route/s.
These rides are not officially sanctioned Mirage rides although you will see
many of our club riders participating in them. Please be advised to learn the
route/s in advance or ride with someone who knows the route/s. We have included a map of the most common routes. Groups will vary on what route/s are taken, this map is given as a general guide and should not be used as a specific reference.
South Loop Map - This map is in Adobe PDF Format. Visit Adobe to download a free PDF reader. if you do not have one installed on your computer.
The information below is a list of rides that leave from the White Rock Lake area and are simply a
part of the East Dallas cycling culture. If you have any updates/corrections/additions
to this ride information please send them to the webmaster. This information is provided "as is" and we cannot guarantee the accuracy of any information on list.
SATURDAY & SUNDAY MORNING RIDES
These rides generally occur year round.
7:30AM Saturday & Sunday
9:00AM Saturday & Sunday
Sunday 8:30AM
All of these rides are leaderless and generally occur year round weather permitting. In the summer, the 7:30AM group size increases to avoid the heat and in the fall and winter the group size will shift to the 9:00AM ride to take advantage of warmer later morning temperatures. The 9:00AM rides are generally attended by faster, more experienced riders, but novice riders also attend to advance and test their fitness levels.
Please note that group size and speed may vary depending on who shows up. These rides are leaderless, so please bring a map and/or ride with someone that you know if this is your first time. The group is pretty cordial and will break up in to smaller groups, but come prepared.
WEDNESDAY EVENING RIDES
These rides typically occur during Daylight Savings time between April and October on Wednesday evenings. They leave from TP Hill at White Rock Lake.
4:45pm - Early Worlds...... This ride isn't what it used to be. Be prepared for a moderate to fast paced ride averaging 19-20 mph. Good workout for those that can't hang with the 5:30 group. 38 miles.
5:30pm - Wednesday Night World Championship....... VERY FAST, race pace, 22 mph - 25 mph ++ average...... 42 miles.. Racers or extremely fit experienced riders only. If you think this group may be too fast for you to handle, you are correct.
6:00pm - The old Jr. Worlds ride is trying to revive itself one more time.
All rides from RBM or the lake will pass through the intersection of Forest Hills & St. Francis approximately 5-10 minutes after the start time. This is a good place to jump on if you can't make it to the start.
